Today in class 9-24-08

Today in class we studied how to make negatives in Spanish. Here are the notes that were important from todays class.

Negatives
• To make an English sentence negative, you usually use the word “not”: I do not
like to sing.

• To make a Spanish sentence negative, you usually put no in front of the verb or
expression: No me gusta cantar.

• To answer a Spanish question negatively, you often use no twice: ¿Te gusta bailar?
No, no me gusta.

• To say that you do not like something at all, you add the word nada: No, no me
gusta nada.

• To say you don’t like either of two choices, use ni...ni: No me gusta ni correr
ni practicar deportes.

Today in class we did several activities from our book that helped us learn and practice the new vocabulary. If you were absent please visit your online textbook pages 28 and 29. We read and watched the videohistoria together as a class and talked about the differences in the ways Spanish is spoken in different countries. We also completed activity 3 on page 29. If you were absent please play the video and watch it on your computer by clicking the play video icon to play the Videohistoria video for Chapter 1A, remember this is found on page 28. After you watch the video please complete activity #3 ¿Comprendes?. Please complete that activity by writing the questions and then your answers on a piece of notebook paper. We also completed activity #4 Escribir/hablar as well. If you were absent please complete this activity as well by answering the questions in complete sentences. You can complete activity #3 and #4 on the same piece of paper.
