It is a stem changing boot verb e-ie. The second e experiences the stem change. The yo form conjugation is yo prefiero, the tú form is tú prefieres, the Ud. él and ella form is prefiere, the nosotros form is preferimos, and the Uds. ellos and ellas form is prefieren.
